Is it safe to give a spending tracker your Swiggy or Zomato OTP?

Updated

A one-time code from Swiggy or Zomato signs whoever types the code in to your account on that app. Share the code only with a service you chose and checked yourself, and never with someone who calls or messages you asking for the code. Every spending tracker that reads your order history needs your sign-in in some form: a browser extension reads with the session your browser already holds for the app’s website, and DineProfile reads with the code the app texts you. DineProfile never saves the code, keeps the sign-in secure, uses the sign-in only to read your orders and deletes the sign-in soon after your orders are read. DineProfile is independent and isn’t affiliated with Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, Blinkit or Instamart.

What the code does

Typing a Swiggy or Zomato sign-in code into DineProfile signs DineProfile in to your account on that app, as signing in on a new phone would. That sign-in, called a session, is what lets DineProfile read your order history. The code itself works once and expires.

What to check before you give a tracker your code

How DineProfile answers each check

The Privacy and simplicity page lists every safeguard, and the safety guide walks through connecting an app step by step.

Browser extensions and your sign-in

A spending extension runs in Chrome on a computer and reads the orders page on each app’s website while you’re signed in. The extension uses the sign-in your browser already holds, so the orders stay in your browser. Extensions work only on a computer and cover fewer apps, and Zomato’s website no longer lists your orders, so extensions can’t add up your Zomato orders.

Questions

Is it safe to share my Swiggy OTP with a spending calculator?

Share a Swiggy code only with a service you chose and checked yourself, on that service’s own website, and never with someone who calls or messages you for the code. DineProfile never saves the code, keeps the sign-in session secure, uses the session only to read your orders and deletes the session soon after your orders are read.

Can DineProfile order food or pay with my account?

DineProfile only reads your order history. DineProfile never places an order or makes a payment on your apps, and never asks for your UPI PIN or card details.

How long does DineProfile keep access to my Swiggy or Zomato account?

DineProfile deletes the sign-in session soon after DineProfile has read your orders from that app. With DineProfile Plus, DineProfile keeps the session while you have Plus, and DineProfile deletes the session when your Plus subscription ends or when you disconnect the app.

Will DineProfile ever ask me for a code on WhatsApp or by phone?

No. You type each code into dineprofile.com yourself. DineProfile never asks for a code by phone, WhatsApp or email, so treat any such request as a scam.

Is there a way to see my Swiggy spending without sharing an OTP?

Yes. You can open every order in the Swiggy app and add up the amounts by hand, or use a browser extension on a computer, which reads the orders page with your browser’s own sign-in. A browser extension covers fewer apps and about one year of orders.
